The Parable of the Grounded Woman
Elisabeth Tomlinson’s film The Parable of the Grounded Woman is a subtle, beautiful piece about an inner journey of grief and liberation.
Nancy Mounir is a composer, producer, sessionist, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist based in Cairo, Egypt. As a young Alexandrian musician, she co-founded the metal band Massive Scar Era, which she occassionally plays with. In June 2022 she released her first solo album, Nozhet El Nofous.
Nancy’s also worked on Dina El Wedidi’s debut album featuring Grammy award winner Gilberto Gil and the iconic Mazaher Ensemble. As a composer and sound designer, she is frequently found working in film and theatre, often with Egyptian theatre director Laila Soliman and most recently with celebrated Egyptian film director Khairy Beshara on his upcoming film, featuring fellow Cairene musician Nadah El Shazly as an actor.
She composed, arranged and played the music in The Parable of the Grounded Woman streamed on the culturala website in winter 2022.
